What is it that you want to attract into your life? Money? Love? Success? A new relationship? A new job or business? Is there room for it? Not if your life is full of too many unwanted people, situations and things that create negative energy which in turn attracts the same thing right back at you. More negative energy. You see the laws of attraction very clearly state that all matter is energy and if like energy attracts like energy, then what kind of magnet do you want to be?
Take my house. Built in the 1930’s it has great “bone structure” but upgrading every room is the order of the day. Creating order out of chaos, beauty out of decay.
So, this summer, my life has been all about becoming an environmental perfection agent in my home. When it comes to home environments I quickly discovered that it is a commitment of time, money, energy and a willingness to live in chaos. However what I found is a new sense of what is possible, to begin to have my home support me in my life. As an entrepreneur who works at home, I found it jarring to walk down to my basement on a to put the laundry in my washer because the celling was caving in, the floors were all cracked and the crickets had taken over and would jump out of baskets and scare the hell out of me.
Finished originally in 1935 and having been visited upon by floods and the ravages of time, it was a place that even the Addams Family would not want to visit. Or to go into a bathroom that had a giant hole in the navy blue tile that was installed over the pink tub in 1938. Both rooms were environments that caused me upset and were draining my energy. I often felt that these spaces were undermining any actions I was taking to grow my practice and build a business. My moment arrived this summer to start making some serious changes. What unfolded with the help of a talented contractor by the name of Joe, who said he became most creative when he was tuned into the local classical station here in NY, I discovered my inner interior designer. It was an emotional joy ride that has yielded spectacular results.
In her books Spiritual Housekeeping and The Emotional House, Kathryn Robin talks about creating sanctuaries in your home with particular emphasis on both the bathroom and the basement. The bathroom being your place to cleanse and renew. The basement being the place where your ancestor energy resides. Creating environments where I can feel both at peace and joyfully energized has inspired me to continue on my path as an environmental perfection agent in my home, my work and with whom I associate.
I now have 2 beautiful bathrooms that I can go to for inspiration, pleasure and that delicious feeling of accomplishment along with a nearly completed lower level that makes me smile now when I walk down the staircase and enter those rooms. What joy. What rapture.
When I work with clients I often ask them to look in their environments to see what is of value and what no longer serves them. Right now 2 of my clients are in the same mode cleaning out the old, bringing in the new in every level of their lives. Together we share the frustrations and the fun of this process.
To attract and reinvent means you must make space as you set your intention and make your plans.
What can you do today to become your own environmental perfection agent?
Enjoy the ride.
